About
Feather and Lens

My name is Joaquin Cardenas, and I use photography and writing to build cinematic, story-driven worlds. My work explores post-apocalyptic imagery, nature, still lifes, and close-up compositions that blur the line between the real and the imagined, transforming everyday objects and figures into scenes that feel grounded, atmospheric, and alive. Using a Canon 5D Mark IV, I rely on natural light and intimate composition to shape mood, texture, and detail, refining each image in Adobe Lightroom Classic with subtle edits that enhance the story rather than redefine it. Alongside my photography, I write speculative fiction that explores many of the same themes—survival, memory, resilience, and imagined worlds—expanding on the moments and atmospheres my images suggest. Whether through a photograph or a story, my goal is the same: to create immersive worlds that invite curiosity and encourage the audience to imagine what exists beyond the frame or the page.
